Hey There, Hi there, Ho there.
Basically, I think that the new feature on Facebook that allows you to sit there and watch a "live feed" of the newsfeed makes me want to crawl into a hole and just wait for the end of the world. I mean, really??? Facebook has officially turned into stalker-central and coming from someone who has vouyeristic tendancies, even I'm scared.
Also, this whole feature that's not new - but still very interesting - is the "mutual friends." Sometimes, I'm completely SHOCKED at how small this world really is. Clearly, some of the connections you see are obvious, but there are some others where you just think - "ho-ho-hoeeeeed up hurrr, is this for realzz?"
I'm a little confused about BOTH 90210 eras in two different ways:
1. Now that we're all older and can look back at our lives and think of how we acted at the ages of 16 and 17, we think 'sure, some of our behavior may have been a little rash and we're lucky we didn't get arrested, etc.' but moreso you're probably thinking 'look at these little 16-year-old snots now. I mean, they dress like hookers, are sexually active way too early, do drugs and what have you. I always told myself I'd never forget how I was at a certain age so as not to give my kid a hard time when they wanted to do those things, but cmonnnn people. We are living THROUGH this transition of the inevitable "back when I was your age" crap that our parents gave us. What does this have to do with 90210, you ask? Well compare the teenagers from the original series and the problems they had to deal with back then with the teenagers now. Brandon Walsh is trying to save the school paper, while the young little bitch on this series can't figure out how to play the game between Evan and Ty. Kids now don't get it. Am I old?
2. Peach Pit. Really? Can you really have seemingly every single meal at The Peach Pit and still look as skinny as you do? I'm talking about for both series. If I had a cheeseburger and fries everyday, I'd be a house and like, uncool. That's all I have to say about that.
Finally, I'd like to discuss how advertising really does have an effect on the human psyche:
Currently, I'm in the market for a new computer. I'm very computer-literate, creative, enjoy technology and really love getting the most of any new purchase. Without going into a long boring story, I've decided that I really think I would like to try out a MAC. Being that I've been a PC user since the year 1996 (or whenver I got my first comp), I am wary to the transition, but as aforementioned, excited to learn something new. Now, follow me here: It wasn't so much the "I'm a MAC" commmercials that really got me interested in MACs, but it IS the "I'm a PC" commercials that are making me want to stay loyal. If you haven't seen the commercials, one of them shows people from all over the country doing all these various tasks (clearly involving computers) and their only line is "I'm a PC." So then, in a Clueless "I Love Josh" moment, I realized I'M A PC!!!!!!!!! And now I'm back to square one in deciding which to purchase.
This blogpost was sponsored by Sherlock Holmes, and for those of you who understand that, will get why this blogpost was so effed up.
Tootles.
I vote Mac. I was a PC user forever. You need to give yourself a 48hr rule however. The first 48 hours you will want to return it because it takes some getting used to. but once you get used to it you will never go back to PC. That's all
