American Idol 8 - Top 5 Perform

Ok ya'll. In my opinion, with the five left, Allison has to go and then it's ON. I understand she's the only girl and she's not terrible like Blindy, but she's just NOT the next American Idol and that's what's up. Ryan couldn't look tanner than if he spent the day wearing a black speedo on the Equator line. Tonight's genre: Standards from the Rat-Pack era! Jamie Foxx is the mentor and I couldn't be happier! He's completely underrated. He's like a quintuple treat: comedy, acting, singing, dancing and he's Black, which actually just pushed him up a few notches.

Kris Allen is up first, looking extremely dapper. The only thing wrong with his outfit is his wedding ring. He's singing "The Way You Look Tonight," and Jamie Foxx announces on FOX that he'd record with Kris. Well, there you have it - this kid is set. Just as expected, he performs flawlessly, though a little bit boring. Given the genre, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Randy thinks it's the best performance he's ever had. I disagree - he's done better. Kara says he set the technical standard high for the evening and is a dark horse in the competition. Paula makes a bit of sense, calling him a crooner. Simon liked it, but thought it was wet. No Simon, we're not talking about me from last night. WHAT? WHO SAID THAT??

Allison Iraheta is next. Her hair looks good and not as red. She turned 17 and her look definitely speaks it. She looks very sophisticated. She'll be singing "Someone to Watch Over Me." If her voice was tangible, it would be best described as: sandpaper, wrapped up in a velvet blanket. Write that down. I mean, look - there's no denying she's a good singer, I'm just over it '09 and I want her to go home. Randy finds her to be Brittany Murphy mixed with Pink. Kara digs her too. Uhg, I'm just over it. Paula made sense. Enough said. Simon drops the bomb and says she could be in trouble next week.

Matt Giraud is up!! LOVE HIMMMMMMMMMMMM. Love his look. Love his hat. Love his eyes. Love his face. Love his smile. Love his tie pin. He'll be singing My Funny Valentine. Jaime's energy is just pumping me the fuck up. Jaime backs him up, I mean. Look, I may be a little disappointed with this. I didn't like the song choice, but I did like his voice, you know? Randy says it's the hardest song to sing ever and it sounded a bit pitchy and gives him a 6 out of 10. Kara thinks one needs to be the leader of the pack (no pun intended.) Kara doesn't think he had an emotional connection and Matt reacts surprised. Paula thinks he did a great job and emotionally connected - obviously with the help of her pills. Simon thought Matt was absolutely brilliant and you know that's the only judge who counts.

Danny Gokey is singing -- um, well right up in Jaime Foxx's face -- and Come Rain or Come Shine. Danny's voice was made for this type of music, though I'm hearing a few flat notes in the beggining. By the end, he's tearing the shit UP. Randy thinks Danny can have an album of songs like that. Look, that's all well and good, but I don't dig this type of music for long periods of time. To me, he may as well be a really expensive wedding singer. Don't get me wrong, he's really amazing -- and the truth is, this competition is just going to turn unfair. EVERYONE is just so good, quality-wise -- and at this point, it's going to be a "favorites" competition. Simon gives Danny a LOT of praise. The thing with Danny is that I really loved him in the beginning - and then he sort of plateaued, but it seems he's BACK. I just dunno!!!

Adam Lambert is next. He's wearing a white suit and with his rock edge, singing Feeling Good is going to be unbelievable. This song first gained popularity, for me, during Six Feet Under. I'm very excited. It's like a conert with him everytime he's on. I could watch him do 16 songs in a row -- and each one would be different. Honestly, it doesn't even matter who is going home next or after that or even after that -- should I just accept that Adam Lambert is going to win? His transitions between ballad, power and screamnations just take his talent to a higher level. I do wish, however, that he sang it more pure and just very full of passion for his softer side. Randy says it was a little drama-filled theatrical performance, but still good. Kara described it perfectly by saying it was sleezy - but in a phenomenal way. Paula says he makes her feel better than Good. Good actually is a new brand of pills she's taking. Have you heard? Simon thinks it's great. He's winning. Seeee ya.

And those are my thoughts -- unedited.
