OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Channel announced it is producing five original two-hour documentaries featuring the talents of Julia Roberts,Forest Whitaker, Goldie Hawn, Gabriel Byrne and Mariel Hemingway. Each film will be part of OWN's monthly documentary film club.
  • Extraordinary Moms - Presented and executive produced by Julia Roberts' banner Red Om Films, this film explores the power of mothers, givers of love and protection to their children. Produced by Creative Visions Productions and Red Om Films; Kathy Eldon, Lisa Gillan and Philip Rose also executive produce.
  • One Last Shot - Narrated and executive produced by Forest Whitaker, this documentary takes viewers inside Louisiana's maximum security prison at Angola, where the average sentence is 90 years and 85 percent of the incarcerated will never live in the outside world. The documentary chronicles a hospice program where tough criminals care for their dying fellow inmates. Produced by Lightworks Pictures in association with KPI with Nick Stuart and Molly Fowler also executive producing.
  • Searching for Happiness - Executive produced, hosted and narrated by Goldie Hawn, this documentary explores mankind's quest for happiness. The film examines the elusive mystery that as a society progresses forward, people become less and less happy. Mark Ford and Kevin Lopez of Creature Films will also executive produce.
  • Tent City - Executive produced by Gabriel Byrne and Leora Rosenberg, this documentary examines homelessness in Nashville. In Tent City, viewers will meet a community of almost 100 homeless people who live under a downtown bridge. This group is self-sustained and self-governed and for the first time the city's Homeless Commission has opened one seat on its council to a resident of Tent City and the documentary follows four candidates as they vie for the election which means a more positive move for the camp. Produced by Stick Figure Productions.
  • Seven Suicides - An original documentary following Mariel Hemingway, granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway as she discovers the legacy of suicide and depression in her own family.
OWN additionally acquired three other documentary films  Life 2.0, Sons of Perdition and Family Affair through its partnership with ro*co films international.

Next month, Comedy Central introduces viewers to its new 30m multi-camera family sitcom, Big Lake. The plot centers on big city banker, Josh (Chris Gethard) who, after losing his job, moves back home to his parents' couch in Big Lake, PA. Now at home, Josh reunites with his childhood buddy, Glenn Cordoba (Horatio Sanz) and Chris Henkel (Chris Parnell), his favorite high school teacher. The series, produced by Gary Sanchez Productions and distributed by Debmar-Mercury, premieres August 17 at 10pM with two back-to-back episodes.

Casting Call: CBS' new reality competition series Got To Dance (wt) is kicking off its nationwide auditions giving aspiring dancers the chance to perform in front of Paula Abdul. Interested dancers can visit www.cbs.com/dance to find the application and full details. This search is open to all US residents and there is no age limit or minimum; dancers may perform any type or style of dance as an individual or as part of a group. Abdul serves as executive producer in addition to being the show's creative partner and top expert. She will also be a coach, mentor and advocate for contestants in the performance and elimination phases. Got To Dance is based on a hit show in the UK and the format was created by Princess Productions and Shine TV; Reveille is producing and Shine International is handling the distribution.
