Blackbirds in the sky .. fall and die

Weirdness alert!  On New Year’s Eve at about 11:30pm, just a half hour before 2011, approximately 1,000 blackbirds straight up fell from the sky in Beebe, Arkansas. 

 

Environmental Services were called to go door to door and dispose of the dead birds.  So what caused them all to die?  Some say they may have been hit by lightning or hail, while others say that New Year’s Eve fireworks caused them to die from stress.  Then again, there’s always the potential of foreshadowing “The End” in 2012….
