The inspiration for Jack Nicholson’s villain character in Scorsese’s film “The Departed” has officially been caught after 16 years on the run. A true South Boston mobster, Whitey controlled all of the Boston crime rings and let the charges with extortion, loansharking, hijacking, arms trafficking, distributing marijuana and cocaine and um … murder. Apparently, he was able to get away with this kind of behavior for over 20 years because he was an FBI informant and was basically a puppet master for anyone around him.
Of course, Jack’s character is gunned down by former New Kids on the Block sensation Mark Wahlberg. IRL (in real life) Whitey was able to get away and hide from the feds for THIS long! It’s really unbelievable.
So where was Whitey? In Santa Monica with his girlfriend, Catherine Greig. He’s now 81-years-old and apparently in bad health. WHAT.A.LIFE, man!
