More Fourth of July Fun!

The Stir happens to be one of my go-to sites.  I realize I'm not a housewife or have babies (yet?) but I really like the modern Martha Stewart take they have in their articles.
Here's a round-up of some fun Fourth of July-ness directly from their website!

4th of July themed recipes ideas from CafeMom’s The Stir

  1. American Flag Tart: Old Glory never tasted better decorated with blueberries, raspberries, and whipped cream. If you prefer to make these into bite size portions try or mini pie recipe!
  2. Fruited Cheesecake Flag: Cut your rectangular cheesecake into tiny squares, and strategically place berries into a flag form. Even individually, the squares look too cute to eat.
  3. Pretzel Sparklers: Dip pretzel rods into semi-sweet melted chocolate, and then cover with red, white, and blue sprinkles.
  4. Red, White, and Bleu Burgers: Tomatoes, onions, and bleu cheese. Yum!
  5. Stars and Stripes Cocktail: Grenadine, Blue Curacao, and light cream in a short cocktail glass. Pour the liquid over the back of a spoon and slowly add them into the glass to keep the layers.

Any July 4th celebration wouldn't be complete without a tasty patriotic cocktail in hand. This Independence Day toast the red, white, and blue with one of CafeMom’s favorite festive drinks.

Red, White, and Blueberry Sangria- Make red wine sangria, and then add fresh blueberries instead of the typical lemons, limes, fruit chunks, etc. Recipe: Combine 1 bottle red wine, 1/2 cup brandy, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1 cup fresh blueberries. Chill until ready to serve. Stir in 2 cups lemon-lime soda. Serve over ice. (You can also substitute fruit punch for wine/brandy for a non-alcoholic version.)
Strawberry Salute Margarita- It's always a party when frozen margaritas are around! For this festive version, combine 6 ounces tequila, 2 ounces triple sec, 8 ounces frozen strawberries, 4 ounces frozen limeade concentrate, and plenty of ice in a blender. Serves 4.
Cranberry Firecracker Fizz-  If you don't want to booze it up this Independence Day, here's a tasty alternative: Combine equal parts cranberry juice and seltzer water in a glass over ice. Add a splash of lemonade and garnish with a skewer of fresh blueberries. And if you use low-sugar cranberry juice, this beverage doubles as a healthy drink.
Old Glory Raspberry Lemonade- This drink is really fun if you garnish with black raspberries, which are available right now at most farmers' markets. Blend 1 can frozen lemonade concentrate (thawed), 1 (10-ounce) package frozen raspberries, and 1 tablespoon sugar in blender. Strain to remove seeds. Stir in 1 liter of club soda. Serve over ice garnished with black raspberries. To make an adult version? Just add vodka.
Pomegranate Pride Martini- The pomegranate martini never goes out of style. Shake equal parts pomegranate juice, vodka, and Cointreau in a cocktail shaker with ice. Garnish with a skewer of blueberries for a splash of blue!
