Michael Phelps and Marijuana

There has been a lot of controversy over Michael Phelps and the circulating picture of him hitting the bong. Clearly, I have ZlataThoughts on this.



First and foremost - the boy is 23-years-old. The boy won an insane amount of gold medals for our country. The boy certainly appears to have his head on straight, atop a body that's undeniably gorgeous. This is hardly a reason for a) some sort of intervention or 2) an apology to the public.
In fact, if I was Mama Phelps, I would be grateful if my son's marijuana smoking was the biggest problem in our lives. Get OVER it, America. It's pot. I understand it's illegal (though it shouldn't be) - but there is absolutely no reason to create this much drama around a little THC inhalation.
Do you want to know who committed an even greater crime? The douchebag who 1) took that picture and b) circulated it. This goes against every aspect of getting high.
Furthermore, it speaks volumes that Phelps' career won't be jeopardized, nor will his sponsors pull out. He is also still keeping any spokesperson gigs he accrued.

He should rally with the dual platform of legalizing and decriminalizing marijuana.
