American Idol 8 - Top 5 sends one home

I'm a little nervous, I must say. I realize that technically speaking, Matt Giraud had the poorest performance, vocally. However, I'm just not ready for him to go home. That feeling is not the same for Allison Iraheta, who I'm ready to see go.

In the group performance, Matt's solo was really great - as was Kris Allen's. Allison is so annoying and honestly, Adam's redundancy is getting a little old. Truly, if Matt goes tonight, I'm not sure WHO I will route for from here on out. Obviously, I'm not going to go insane and not watch anymore, but I will really have to connect with somoene else I suppose.

This is the most serious food fight I have ever seen. Wow.

Ok, dim the lights...Matt is up first and is instructed to stand to the right. Danny is instructed to go to the left. He's giddy. Allison stands next to Danny and now I'm just confused with what they're doing here. A complete turnaround from the beginning complaints I had with the predictability of the send off. They left Adam for last because obviously wherever he goes, there they are safe. He's put on the spot when Ryan asked him what side of the stage he thinks he belongs in. He goes to the side of Allison and Danny, with the intentions of grouping himself with who he thinks was the best last night. A "Chris Daughtry" moment occurs when Adam is in fact on the wrong side of the stage and joins Matt and Kris as part of the bottom three. Shocked! I really don't think America has it right. Kara says,"My mouth went open again. That's what happens with Adam" Yea, that's what she said, lady. Snickers from the crowd ensue. Commercial. Natalie Cole. Fast Forward.

Taylor "Ticks" Hicks. He looks pretty good, older, but good. He's really only 30 or something, right? He was the oldest in the competition his year, at age 28. I think he looks like a hybrid of George Clooney and Billy Yirce.

One person back to safety. That person is Kris Allen. I'm really upset right now because it's between Adam and Matt and obviously Matt is going to go home. I mean I'm sad. I'm not even happy for Jamie Foxx's performance and I've been looking forward to it all night! Grrrrr.

Jamie Foxx is singing Paula's theme song, "Blame It." I mean, I'm into it. He's definitely a crazy triple threat and just an interesting person all around. It's funny like, hey you won an Oscar, but now you are trying to be 50 Cent. Whatevz. I'm back to being upset about Matt. Jamie has a nice little speech about each of them and thinks it's about what's in the future. Nice touch, J. Foxx.

My reaction to the bottom two...devestation. Granted, Adam deserves to stay more than Matt based on last week's performance - but I was really upset with the bottom three from the getgo. Alright well, I'm going to go call my boyfriend to make sure he's ok. Don't worry Matt!

i have to disagree with the entirety of your idol assessment.

I too at one point rooted for Matt G, he was my fav. Then he got annoying. His stupid Jason Mraz/JT hats and his JT scruff and imitation dance moves just became way too annoying and copycat. His song choice was poor, although I think yesterday he was great vocally. Funny valentine was a tough song to sing...it didnt have a strong melody and wasnt really a ballad or an up-tempo song. He overthought his choice and the fact that he "knew" jazz probably hurt him. The best thing he ever did was Ray Charles Georgia behind a piano and never came close to doing anything like that again. He has made poor song choices throughout the past few weeks and deserved to be in the bottom 2. I dont want to say he deserved to get kicked off because...

Adam Lambert is just terrible. Way over the top, one trick pony. I would immediately turn down the radio if i heard him on the air (god forbid it comes to that). He sings every song in that same high key and always goes into his steven tyler yell no matter if he is singing a disco ballad, rock, or jazz (dude, use a little discretion). just plain retarded and i cant believe the judges slurp his shizz so damn much. truth is, he wasnt that good last night and ruined my favorite song of the night. I can't tell you how pleased i am that he was in the bottom 2 and the way seacrest set it up was beautiful. this was a long time coming and I hope america finally gets it right next week.

I dont understand your feelings about Allison I. Her voice is really ridiculous. She would come out with some sick songs and a decent album. Not really sure where you are coming from on this one. Her performance was nuts and she deserved to be in the top
