Last night, I had the privilege of working a really great event. Hosted by Josh Lucas, Dentyne REALationships started with a contest where aspiring playwrights wrote a script with the premise being: technology has taken over interpersonal communication and there really is not enough "facetime" between people now. Dentyne Gum, seeing as how it makes your breath uber-fresh, encourages facetime - and encouraged young playwrights to bring it.
Dina Epshteyn, the public winner for her play 'No Blueberries,' won a $7,500 cash prize, along with a professionally produced play by Manhattan Theatre Club.
There were four student finalists chosen and flown in to New York City for the week to produce and show their plays last night. The winner, Mike Salomon, was announced last night post-plays for his script of 'RMEO + JULEZ'
