Digi-TimeZ and TV TimeZ and Casting CallZ, OH MY!

Tivo finally introduced a new set-top that streamlines the process of viewing videos on broadband-based services such as Netflix and YouTube. Instead of having to awkwardly switch over to a separate menu, the interface integrates web video with broadcast and cable programming, allowing you to search for shows across the TV database and the web. The two new Flash-based "Premiere" models ($300 w/a 45 hour HD hard drive, $500 for 150 hrs.) will feature a slide-out QWERTY keyboard like the upcoming D-Link Boxee Box, greatly improving web surfing and social networking functionality. Tivo also upgraded its wireless broadband adapter to the faster "N" standard (an $89 add on.) Look for the new models at Best Buy and Amazon in April.

Ron Howard took some time off from the set of Parenthood to direct this online video pitch on FunnyorDie.com for financial reform in the U.S. Written by Funny or Die co-founder Adam McKay and Al Jean, it brings back all of the SNL cast members who played Presidents during past administrations, dating back to Chevy Chase playing Gerald Ford. (Chevy enters with one of his patented pratfalls.) Like ghosts of Christmas past, the former Presidents visit President Obama to rub it in that it has fallen on him to clean up the mess. The video ends with a call to action from activist group Americans For Financial Reform.
