Five college degrees that won't get you a job

I watch the Today Show as I get ready for work most mornings and there was a story on today (no, not the one about the 35 pound cat) that really caught my attention.

According to research, the following five college degrees are the worst to have in terms of successfully lining up a job after college:

  • Zoology
  • Anthropology
  • Philosophy
  • Art History
  • Humanities

Due to the downfall in the economy, the Associated Press article claims that one of two college graduates (that's 50 percent) will not be able to find a job post-college.

"While there's strong demand in science, education and health fields, arts and humanities flounder. Median wages for those with bachelor's degrees are down from 2000, hit by technological changes that are eliminating midlevel jobs such as bank tellers. Most future job openings are projected to be in lower-skilled positions such as home health aides, who can provide personalized attention as the U.S. population ages."

The article is a pretty good read and extremely insightful. I'm interested in hearing from the readers who DO have degrees in the "least desirable" category. I know my good friend has a degree in Art History and is very successful at what she does.  Would love to hear more stories like that!
