How unknown musical artists become popular

How does a song from a seemingly unknown artist take over airwaves and TV? If you haven't yet heard Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know" then there's something wrong with you. It was featured on Glee, the musical guest on Saturday Night Live and pollutes radio stations.  Great song, yes -- but it's not a "Beyonce" or a "Madonna" where you'd naturally expect a hit song.

So, how does a song from a seemingly unknown artist take over?

The end.

Really, that's the end of this blog post.  I want to know the answer.  HOW?
