WHAT SHOULD I WATCH TONIGHT?

Yesterday Katie Couric made it official saying she will leave her anchor position with CBS Evening News when her contract expires June 4.  The timing of Couric's departure announcement allows the network a month to introduce a new evening news anchor.  CBS News will likely reveal Couric's replacement next week following its coverage of the Royal Wedding with Couric anchoring in London.  Though what exactly Couric will do next is still up in the air and that announcement is expected in the next few weeks.  

Five current series on The CW Network received early renewals and will be back starting fall 2011:
  • Reality series America's Next Top Model ordered for both cycles next season opening in the fall with its first-ever All-Star Edition.
  • The Vampire Diaries, The CW's most-watched series with 4.0 million total viewers and tops with W18-34 at 2.9/9, reupped for a sophomore season.
  • Gossip Girl and 90210 were also renewed and will return along with the seventh season of Supernatural.
Brothers Robbie and Stephen Keszey are featured on Discovery Channel's new series Swamp Brothers opening May 13 at 10p.  The duo operates the Glades Herp Farm in Florida, the largest venomous snake breeding farm in the world.  Story House Productions is producing Swamp Brothers for Discovery Channel.

New reality series Ice Loves Coco debuts on E! June 12 at 1030p.  The eight-episode half-hour series goes inside the ten-year marriage of rapper/actor/author Ice-T and his fitness/swimsuit model wife Coco as they balance their careers and marriage.  Ice Loves Coco is created and produced by Comcast Entertainment Studios.

Eight series on HGTV received new episode orders or renewals:
  • Real estate-themed series House HuntersHouse Hunters InternationalMy First PlaceFor RentProperty Virgins and Real Estate Intervention all were granted additional episodes extending their production schedules.
  • Sophomore season renewals given to All-American Handyman hosted by Molly Culver and to Holmes Inspection led by contractor Mike Holmes.
